Rain Alarm is a weather tracking app specialized in giving alerts when rain is approaching the user's location. Unlike standard forecast apps that only display daily info, Rain Alarm uses real-time weather data from local sources to provide early warnings, helping users easily plan outdoor activities like cycling, walking, gardening, or picnicking.
Intuitive rain alerts and weather tracking
The highlight of Rain Alarm is its ability to alert you when rain is approaching. When rain is detected in the area you are tracking, the app can send notifications with vibration, sound, or voice. This helps users stay proactive without constantly checking the weather radar.
Rain Alarm also provides an intuitive weather map for users to easily track surrounding rain areas. Besides regular rain, the current version supports distinguishing types of weather such as hail, snow, freezing rain, and other special phenomena. The app also features a traditional weather forecast page with the ability to display alerts when data from supported areas is available.
Track rain via map and alerts
The map is a useful tool for users to quickly visualize the movement direction of the rain area. Instead of relying solely on a rain probability number, users can combine map information with alerts to make appropriate decisions for outdoor activities.
The app supports various widgets with diverse sizes and interfaces. Widgets display weather information directly on the home screen, allowing users to check quickly without opening the entire app. Some widgets and advanced features are only available in the paid package.
Wear OS support and advanced features
Rain Alarm features a standalone version for Wear OS, supporting notifications along with components like tiles and complications. For users with compatible devices, receiving rain alerts directly on their watch is much more convenient while on the go.
Rain Alarm now unlocks additional features for subscribed users, including multiple tracking locations, flexible alerts, customizable animation and widget effects, map widgets, advanced forecast data, along with compatibility with Android Auto and Android Automotive. The latest version updated by Google Play has optimized performance on Android 16 and Android 17.
Usage tips and guide for Rain Alarm
Right when you start using Rain Alarm, you need to grant location permission so the app can identify the area you want to track. Afterward, adjust the map and set up alerts to receive notifications when rain is approaching. If you frequently go outside, you can use widgets to quickly check the live weather situation right from your home screen.
For activities like motorcycling, fishing, running, hiking, or working outdoors, it is recommended to check the map before starting rather than relying solely on alert notifications. Short-term alerts can be helpful for tracking incoming rain, but actual weather conditions may still vary by region.
Conclusion
Rain Alarm is a weather app that focuses heavily on detecting and alerting you to approaching rain rather than just displaying regular forecasts. With intuitive maps, alerts via notification, vibration, sound, or voice, widgets, Wear OS support, and advanced features, the app can become a useful tool for those who frequently check the weather before heading out.
